   #2 Missouri Congressman in 2004.
Akin has voted with the President on some very difficult votes, including last year's transportation bill and more recently on embryonic stem cell research.    The only major vote he has ever cast against the President was on the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill in late 2003, because the Bill was too costly.
Including consistent and committed advocacy of the Global War Against Terrorism, Congressman Akin has actively supported the President on both domestic and foreign policy.   Akin has three sons in the military, one who is a Marine just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, and all are proud to have President George W. Bush as their Commander-in-Chief.
Elected vice-president of his class of freshmen Republicans in 2001, Congressman Akin has also been appointed by the House Republican leadership to chair two Small Business Subcommittees dealing with Regulatory Reform and the U.S. Workforce.
